Pros
G1000 is a tough fabric. Reasonably water resistant. And it can be made more water resistant with the G wax. But I just sprayed it down with some silicone waterproofing spray and it’s fine. I like exterior fabric as it’s a lot tougher than the rip stop nylon that you get on a lot of down jackets. Plus, I didn’t want to spend $1000 for a Gore-Tex down jacket.

The sizing seems to be true to fit. Normally, I’d wear an extra large. But I wanted to be able to wear a thick polar fleece underneath, so I did order the XXL. Without layers, the XXL is a bit too big, but I didn’t want to risk an extra large being uncomfortable with layers underneath.

The pockets are great. There are two exterior chest pockets. Two interior pockets. Into mesh pockets at the bottom for gloves or a hat. One thing they don’t tell you about in the specs is the two exterior pockets have an angled mesh pocket. Those fit a pair of Ravan sunglasses perfectly. They are a soft fabric not to scratch the lenses. If you have a smaller phone, it might fit into those angled pockets. But a plus size iPhone does not fit. This was a really pleasant surprise to be able to tuck the sunglasses into a smaller pocket inside so they don’t rattle around or get scratched. 

The hem drops down on the back. So it covers most of the year but when you’re standing. And will continue to cover your waistband, even if you are crouched over or bending down to pick something up. 

The hood works really well and it has enough adjustments to make it fit to your needs. Other Jackson that I was looking at had hoods that were designed to fit over a helmet. But I didn’t need that for this jacket.

It’s definitely heavier than a down puffer jacket. But not heavy enough that it’s uncomfortable. The synthetic insulation dries fast enough. It’s not one of those super fancy synthetics. But it does what I need it to do.

Cons. 
A lot of reviews complain about the zipper. That it’s super hard to zip up or that the zipper breaks easily. I will admit that the zipper is a little weird. The two zipper pieces are on the left side. I’m used to all of my jackets having the zipper pieces on the right side. And zipping up right handed. For this one, you have to zip up left-handed. I don’t know maybe it’s a European thing. But easy enough to get used to and really no problems zipping. This also has the two pieces so you can zip up from the bottom when you’re getting in the car or need a little bit more freedom with your legs. Anyway, it’s not a big problem, just a little weird. 

The temperature rating was listed as -10 to -25. I think -10 is reasonable if you’re out for a walk or just running back-and-forth to the car from your house or office. Anything more than -10 you really need to layer something underneath. Especially if you’re standing out on the street waiting for a bus. 

Anyway, I have a feeling this jacket will last me

Great Jacket

Fits a little on the large size; usually I wear a large jacket at 6’1 185lbs, but I can layer a shirt and light sweater under this jacket in medium stiff. 
Love the simplistic look, no huge logos, and tons of handy pockets!
Strange but true, inside the hood material is like loud slush pants material. Arm but wish they used a Sherpa style Insulation instead.

Excellent choice

Overall, it is a nice jacket. I decided to return it because the XS size did not convince me. Good fit in the upper body, but the sleeves were too long for me.

Nice jacket, but not for me.

The 2 outside chest pockets with zipper have internal mesh to hold my iPhone. The 2 large interior mesh pockets are ideal for gloves or torque. As most has posted the sleeves are longer than usual. Wish to have adjustable drawcord at the waist. Love the 2-way zipper, open up at the hem for comfort seating, the downside is always hard to align to zip on. The design looks stylish for hip length jacket. Had worn at minus double digit in Alberta winter, so far so good. I’m 5’4”, 115lb, XS is a good fit. Overall I’m very happy with this jacket.

Warm and comfortable

I own the non-padded version and I needed a light-weight winter jacket so I went with this. The only thing about the sizing is that it&#x27;s like they took a regular Skogso and put the padding on the inside, so it fits like 1/3 of a size small. I&#x27;m a large in both but it&#x27;s like the outer dimensions are the same, so the padded one is definitely a bit tighter than the regular one. I&#x27;m going to say it fits true to size in the actual review, but it is snugger than the regular one. Pocket layout is great, padded hood and padded outside hand pockets are a nice touch. The G1000 material really blocks the wind so while it feels a bit lightweight for winter, I notice feeling more protected when there&#x27;s a breeze. Wear with a wool sweater and you&#x27;re good for -2deg weather. One thing, most winter jackets are a bit longer in the body, and this still stops at the waist like a fall jacket.
