I purchased these poles as a Christmas present so I can&#x27;t provide a complete evaluation. But having owned Leki aluminium Super Makulu hiking poles purchased in the late 90s, I can see how Leki has made minor improvements over time. The biggest improvement is the quick release style locking mechanism which replaces the twist lock mechanism of the 90s. The system is much easier and quicker to use for rapid adjustments. My only qualm is that the levers are plastic and probably won&#x27;t last as long as a metal lever would. The cork form fitting handles remain and I found them comfortable in both hot and cold situations whether I was snowshoeing are descending a steep and slipper hill in humid conditions. The strap release mechanism is different than the key on my 90s version and potentially easier to use once you read the instruction manual. The aluminium poles should last a long time depending on how rough you are with them. My personal pair just has some scratches. Nice incremental improvements Leki.

I&#x27;m pretty new to hiking and these were suggested to me by someone more experienced. They&#x27;re light, easy to adjust, a fair price and more importantly they match my new pack. ok not really that important. But one hike in on a steep grade with loose gravel they seemed quite reliable.
